Palomino holds a special place in Las Vegas’ ranks of gentleman’s clubs. Open since 1969, Palomino is the only nude club in Las Vegas established before the law proclaiming that only topless clubs could serve liquor. Therefore, Palomino is the only all nude club that is authorized to have a full bar (despite the practices of some clubs in Las Vegas). While modern laws would have us believe that the combination of full nudity and hard liquor breed trouble, this club has a rare element of elegance that some nude clubs lack.
Located in North Las Vegas, Palomino is impressive from the first step in the door. The lobby looks like a smaller version of a classic theater lobby, with silver rails and a quaint little “ticket booth” where customers pay cover charges. Palomino is very loyal to their local clientele, offering deals for locals alongside coupons for locals and visitors alike. Even without coupons, cover charges and drinks are reasonably priced, considering the quality of the club. There is also a small, antiquated sign near the door, proclaiming that “Single Women Must Be Accompanied By A Male”.
After entering the club through the lobby, customers down a long red hallway with only a few nude paintings and the sound of drifting music to guide them to the main room. There is a door leading to VIP Rooms next to the hallway, but the main room is awe-inspiring: The interior is black and the only sources of light in the club are coming from the main stage and the bar, making the alcohol and the girls seem like islands in a black sea; incredibly high ceilings add to the effect. Luckily, light sparkling from brass rails leads customers to either the bar or the spacious floor area.
Whether it be at the bar or a table, customers are guaranteed to have a great view of the stage; and what a stage it is. Raised about six feet off the ground, the stage begins at the rear wall with a silver curtain shimmering from the many lights above the catwalk. On the base of the stage there are three poles randomly placed right before the catwalk extends out towards the audience. This narrow walkway has two circular platforms; one placed at the midway point of the catwalk, and one at the end; each platform has a pole and the floor beneath it lights up like a neon pie chart. The abundance of color doesn’t distract from anything, but draws the eye to the stage from the otherwise black interior.
Palomino uses the buildings high ceilings to its advantage by implementing poles that looked to be nearly 40 feet, extending nearly to the ceiling. The dancers at Palomino use the poles to their full advantage, incorporating daring acrobatics from the top of the pole into their routines. Also, most of the music that dominates the club consists of slow jams, adding an extra sensual element to all the routines of the dancers. Palomino is also one of the only nude gentleman’s clubs in Las Vegas to offer male revues on the weekends and has an Urban Night during the week, adding even more entertainment and fun to a Las Vegas legend.
